| Prologue |
|
The
NARRATOR introduces the show and the mindset of Salem, a place filled with
fear and medieval superstitions. Though even in a climate such as
this, there were those who were happy and in love.
|
1- "Prologue"
- NARRATOR
|
|
Scene
1A
|
| Narrator
introduces Bridghid and
ISAAC. ISAAC teases BRIDGHID, saying she has bewitched him, and she
sings a lilting song, playing on the stereotypes of conjuring magic
spells...And as the NARRATOR explains, fate steps in---ISAAC dies,
leaving BRIDGHID to tend to their land and property by herself. |

NARRATOR introduces WILL and LILLITH on the other side of
town. LILLITH announces that she no longer wishes to be
married to WILL, that there are plenty of men in the world who can
satisfy her better than he can. And as the NARRATOR
explains, LILLITH'S lusty ways end their marriage. As WILL
goes off into the world to battle his inner demons of pain and
sorrow, he later learns that LILLITH has died...of several
venereal diseases. |

appears to be disputes between religious denominations is actually
a struggle between men and women and their roles within the
structure of religion, government, and society.

can then seize the women's land, business and/or property.
Knowing their comfortable position won't last, the CHIEF JUSTICE
gets an idea to fuel the TOWNSPEOPLE'S interest in rooting out
Witches: instead of hanging the next Accused Witch, they'll have a
bon-fire, with the Witch on top to burn at the stake. |
